Donation uses
What type of work does LAM fund
We partner with Canadian and Latin churches, and institutions, as well as international Christian organizations to encourage, assist and participate in building the Body of Jesus Christ in Latin America. All activities and workers must be approved by the governing Board.

How do I find out if a project is approved
When you donate online, you will find only approved ministries on the drop down menu. If you have any question regarding any approved project or missionary, please contact us by phone or email.

What countries are served by LAM workers and projects
Columbia, Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, Bolivia, Costa Rica Other one time projects are completed throughout Central America, Caribbean and South America countries.

How do you fund these activities
Directly to a person working for the organization, to a designated and approved project, or through general donations to Latin America Mission (Canada).

What happens if my designated project is no longer active or it has reached its target
If a preference has been expressed as to how LAM Canada uses a gift, the gift remains a gift to LAM Canada. When the need for any ministry or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason, remaining funds will be used where needed most, as determined by the governing Board of LAM Canada.

Getting to the right place
What is the Christian Charities membership about
You can learn about this at www.cccc.org.

Why do you use a different organization for all bank system donations.
Simply put, we want our Canadian staff to be focusing on doing our core unique services with the Latin community.

Why use CanadaHelps.org
Canada Helps.org dedicates its services to performing complex business practices for charities in Canada which do not have the resources to run their own business supports for bank transactions such as credit and debit. Recent changes in the law require organizations who accept credit to follow complex procedures, may of which do not apply to our service and ministry goals.
About Canada Helps
How much does it cost to use an external company for this financial assistance and how does it affect my donation
Canada Helps deducts a 3.9% processing fee (effective July 1, 2010) from each gift you make by credit card, which is comparable to fees which would be payable by the mission to set up similar services for processing credit card donations on line. Your tax receipt from Canada Helps will be for the full amount of your gift.
Set up Automatic Withdrawal & Pre-authorized Payment
What is automatic withdrawal – electronic funds transfer
A regular deduction from your bank account can be made (monthly) to be sent to Latin America Mission. It is easy and there is no need to remember to write your cheque. At any time, you can change the amount or the project/person to whom it is given. A change form is available on the "Donate Now" page.

How do I cancel or change a preauthorized arrangement
You can easily change your directions, by downloading the Preauthorized Donation CHANGE form. You can find this form on the Donate Now page, along with the form for setting up a Notice of Change.

Why should I give through Latin America Mission and not directly to the person
Tax benefit in Canada for charitable donations is significant – 75% of the value is applied against your taxable income for your donation receipt submitted when you file your donation receipt with your annual income tax.

How much do I have to give before I will get a receipt
Receipts are always provided for amounts equal to or greater than $20.00.

When will I get my donation receipt
Official receipts for Income Tax Purposes are issued for all eligible gifts once per year by February 28 of the following year. This will be directed to the address we have on file for you. If you donate to Latin America Mission through CanadaHelps the receipt will come from them via your email address shortly after the transaction is confirmed.

Can I get my receipt right away after I donate
In the event you require a receipt before the end of the year for funds sent directly to Latin America Mission please inform our office. If you donated through Canada Helps you will receive your receipt shortly after each transaction is confirmed.
