Alan van der Woerd and his wife Eileen Barrientos met in 1993 at her church Comunidad PAS (started by LAM Missionaries) in San José, Costa Rica. The following year, they married and moved to Mexico where Alan served for 14 years as a theology professor and church developer.
They moved back to Canada in 2006 where Alan has been the chaplain at the University of Northern British Columbia and has taught religion courses in the Philosophy department. Eileen has been teaching flamenco, working in a health food store, and has been involved with prayer ministry. Their children, Calvin (22), Luke (20), and Eva (17) are proudly bi-cultural with three nationalities!
Alan and Eileen are looking to move back to Costa Rica and serve with ESEPA seminary, where Alan has been accepted on the faculty. With a heart for training church leaders in Latin America, they sense God’s hand on their lives. Alan and Eileen ask you to partner with them in a new mission adventure.
