Dear friends,

I am starting on a new role with LAM as of September 1, 2022.

It has been a great privilege to serve as the Executive Director of the Latin America Mission Canada since 2008. I also served on the board for about two years prior to that. It has been a real joy, a blessing, and a humbling experience to work with the Mission and come along every missionary and their ministries. Over these past nearly 15 years, I have seen a tremendous growth in our ministries: new missionaries, and projects all over this continent and in Canada. The Mission has grown from about 18 missionaries in 2008 to a family of 60 missionaries in 2022. Our missionaries are very committed, God-fearing, and committed to the values of LAM as a biblical, Christ-centered, empowering and partnership-oriented organization.

From its very beginning, LAM engaged in evangelism, church planting, leadership development, bible teaching and theological formation, and the development of a hands-on holistic approach to ministry when the concept of “holistic" missions wasn’t even in the books yet.  We continue to support and advance, gospel-based community development projects, church planting, and leadership development. We have also been engaged with various ministries to indigenous peoples, including a project to an Unreached Peoples Group in the Amazon region.

The Mission reflects what God is doing in Latin America: calling Latin American Christians to work within their own countries and communities, but also to engage in world-wide missions. Today more than half of our missionary family is from Latin America. We have been working with evangelism, church planting, and with theological education and leadership development of the Latin America diaspora in Canada.

My vision is to see a strong Latin American church, serving the Kingdom of God with a strong and solid leadership, grounded in the Truth of Scriptures, faithful to their calling to be disciples and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. I will take Paul’s words to Titus as my own ministry commitment so that in my teaching and work I “show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose me maybe ashamed and have nothing bad to say about [me].” Titus 2:7-8

In my new role, I will be engaged mostly with theological formation, preaching, leadership development and mobilization for missions. I have already been doing this, but with limitations due to my ED administrative role. I will continue to travel to Latin America but will also be very engaged with the Latin American diaspora in Canada. I am already engaged with the establishment of the Latin American Mission’s Network in Canada, la Red Misionera, under the auspices of COMIBAM International. I am also part of the core group working to establish a Latin American Diaspora movement of biblical expositors in Canada, an offshoot of the Escuelita movement birthed in Latin America under Jorge and Gail Atiencia’s leadership.
